Walking Group Excursion: Saturday, 10th May 2025
One of the loveliest inner Melbourne environmental attractions is Albert Park Lake. Time we set-about enjoying it on a beautiful autumn day (we hope!).
Place and Time: We will meet on the northern end of the Lake at the picnic area (Melway2K E7) at 12.30pm. It is immediately to the east of the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre. Near the playground, there are tables and numerous park bench seats overlooking the Lake. The toilet is nearby.
Getting there: Dandenong Road to Queens Road; turn left into Lakeside Drive, follow it to the end; then, turn left into Albert Road, follow it to the next traffic light (T-junction with Clarendon St.); turn left into Aughtie Drive, go through Park entrance.
If you are lucky, you may find a parking spot along that road, otherwise, there is a large ticketed parking area on your left, next to the Victorian Institute of Sport building. Fee: On Saturday-$6,- for the whole day.
Our walk: The circuit around the Lake is 4.8km. It takes about 60-70 minutes. For those of us who don’t wish to do the whole circuit, you can decide how much of it you wish to do and then retrace your steps.
Afterwards we will stop to have coffee at the café in the ‘State Sailing Centre’. This is on the shore of Albert Park Lake, about 300-400m east of the picnic area. Next to the Albert Sailing Club.
What to bring: Your lunch, good walking shoes, and clothes to suit the weather. Perhaps a collapsable chair or two if we need them.
Hope to see you all there on the 10th!

Meet our Walking Group
Ravin' Ramblers is a walking group which was initiated at St Oswald's and now encapsulates people from varied backgrounds who socialise with parishioners from St Oswald's.
The walks are open to all, and we encourage everyone to bring their friends along. Ranging from quite easy to more strenuous, most walks will accommodate all level of walkers, and we certainly aim to include anyone with an interest in walking, and the outdoors, to join us.
If you don’t fancy a walk at all, you can always join us for lunch!
