Pick My Project -

St Oswald's Community "ARTS 4 You" program

The Victorian Government has allocated $30 million to this program and has had many community projects submitted. All the projects are listed by local area, and people in the local area are encouraged to vote for their favourite projects as the basis of awarding the funding to the winning projects.

Our submission seeking $29,000 for our “Arts 4 You” was accepted.

Thanks for voting for our project. Voting closed on 17th September and the results are expected in a few weeks.

Arts 4 You

On behalf of St. Oswald’s, Peter Johnson submitted an application to the Pick My Project fund for financial support for our “Arts 4 You” program.  We are proposing to help younger and older people in our community with meals, music, painting, clowning and other arts activities.

Our "Arts 4 You" mission is "Enhancing life through creativity". The foundation of Arts 4 You is for all members of our community, young and old, who should have an opportunity to explore and enhance their creativity, self-expression and self-esteem through the arts to support individual health and well being. The goal of Arts 4 You is to support creative programs in painting, music, writing and clowning and to provide access to individuals who would not otherwise be able to participate. The Arts 4 You program will provide an accessible community arts precinct for the Glen Iris /Ashburton/Burwood community.

Many older people have limited mobility and opportunities for social contact with other members of their community outside their home or aged care facility. Many younger families have limited time and financial resources to provide creative opportunities for their children. The activities within this Arts 4 You program will provide transport, access and hospitality, including sharing meals, for a range of people from our local community. This will allow older people and children to develop their creative talents, have new experiences, feel more included socially, make new friends, be part of a wider community and increase their self esteem.
